It wasn’t that long ago that the beat scene was the toast of Los Angeles. Although nobody could ever quite define exactly what this music was, artists like Flying Lotus, Teebs, Shlohmo and numerous others quickly found their tunes being devoured by fans far outside LA’s city limits. Nosaj Thing was one of the producers lumped into this movement, and his delicate, melody-infused rhythms have continued to draw all sorts of praise over the past decade, even after the initial hype surrounding the beat scene began to fade. Fresh off the release of his most recent album *Parallels*, he looks back on his career and how his hometown helped shape his sound. Also stopping by is Truncate, an LA veteran who previously worked under the name Audio Injection. Over the past few years, his prolific string of raw, dancefloor-oriented releases has made him one of Los Angeles’ most important techno exports.
