Description
Each week, First Floor focuses on new music from across the electronic spectrum, but despite our efforts to highlight many different styles, most artists tend to fit into established lanes: House, techno, jungle, electro, etc. That being said, occasionally acts come along that defy easy explanation, as their music pulls from so many different sounds, styles and influences that they manage to create something wholly unique. Matias Aguayo is one such artist. Born in Chile and raised in Germany, he first came up through the Kompakt universe, but over the past decade or so, he’s been forging a creative new path, not only with his own music, but also with the Cómeme label. Taking cues from the sounds of Latin America, Africa and beyond and blending those elements with the established electronic music templates of the Northern hemisphere, Aguayo and his cohorts have helped give rise to a new sonic universe.
