The last six weeks have been something of a whirlwind, as First Floor has been swept up in all of the activity surrounding this year’s Red Bull Music Academy in Berlin. With the show broadcasting live from the German capital, host Shawn Reynaldo has continued to showcase the best new electronic releases – look out for an exclusive premiere off the forthcoming Fort Romeau EP on Spectral Sound – while also making a special effort to highlight some of the city’s most talented producers and DJs. For this final Berlin installment of the show, he speaks with Minor Science about his bass-warping efforts for the Whities label, and how he’s balanced his art with his work as a music journalist. Also joining the program is Montréal native Marie Davidson, who’s spent the bulk of her time in Berlin over the past year or so. Here’s she discusses her latest album, _Working Class Woman_, her relationship with Berlin and her unique place in the electronic music landscape.
