The last gasp of summer has seemingly slipped away in the German capital, but this year’s Red Bull Music Academy still has a couple of weeks left to celebrate all things Berlin. On First Floor, we’ve continued to highlight all of the best new electronic music releases each week, but host Shawn Reynaldo has also made a special point to invite some of Berlin’s finest electronic music artists onto the program throughout the Academy. On this episode, he’s joined by veteran producer Lawrence, whose Dial label has long been one of the most respected outposts in the game. He talks about his life in Berlin, his melody-rich sound and his latest album _Illusion_, which arrives this week. Also joining the show for an interview is Phase Fatale, an American producer whose uniquely gnarled take on EBM and industrial-influenced sounds have won over admirers from across the techno spectrum, including the folks at Ostgut Ton (who released his most recent EP, _Reverse Fall_).
