Growing up in Wales, Kelly Lee Owens loved music, but she wasn’t a club kid or anything resembling a techno diehard. After moving to London, however, she found herself hobnobbing with the likes of Daniel Avery and Ghost Culture and quickly fell in love with synths and electronic music’s DIY spirit. Fast forward a few years, and Kelly Lee Owens is now releasing her self-titled debut album on the esteemed Smalltown Supersound label. Here, she speaks about the new LP, her unique relationship with electronic music and her genuine interest in the inner workings of the music industry as a whole. Also joining the program for a chat is former Academy participant Onra, a French producer who just released the third and final volume of his popular Chinoseries, in which he’s spent the past decade crafting beats using samples from vintage Chinese records.
