First Floor has been happening for a little more than three years, offering up two hours of new electronic music every Thursday, a run that feels pretty substantial within the context of a scene that’s often lightning quick. And if three years seems like a lifetime, then seven years is practically an eternity when it comes to electronic music — yet that’s how long it’s been since John Talabot released his widely celebrated debut album _ƒIN_. He’s kept plenty busy, heading up the Hivern Discs label while performing around the globe and releasing plenty of music, both solo and collaborative. Here he joins fellow Barcelona resident (and First Floor host) Shawn Reynaldo for an in-depth conversation, providing some insight into when we can expect a followup album and what it feels like to have a label that’s been operating for a decade.
