First Floor – John Barera & Will Martin and DJ Python

Just a few years back, John Barera and Will Martin were best friends and roommates, cranking out tunes from their home studio in Boston. The arrangement was a fruitful one, and resulted in the groove-filled (and critically acclaimed) 2014 album *Graceless*. These days, however, things have changed a bit for Barera and Martin. The two are still inseparable, but they’ve relocated to NYC and settled into adult life while continuing to hone their craft – both together and via a litany of solo and side projects. This week, their second album, *Proceed to the Root*, is arriving on the 2MR label, so the guys speak here about its genesis and how all of life’s changes in the past few years have trickled down into the music. Also joining the program is Queens-based producer Brian Piñeyro, who’s made a splash over the past year or so with a series of records as DJ Wey, DJ Xanax, Luis and DJ Python.
