Simply put, it’s hard to tell the story of UK jungle without J Majik. Getting his start in the early ’90s, he was on the ground as the genre exploded, contributing his own records (more than a few of which are now regarded as classics) to legendary labels like Metalheadz and Reinforced, along with his own Infrared imprint. Still, despite all of his success, he wound up dropping out of the scene several years back, which made the announcement of his new album, _Full Circle_ (his first LP in more than 20 years), a particularly welcome surprise. Here he talks about his hiatus from dance music, what inspired the new record and why the ’90s jungle sound is still so potent. Elsewhere, host Shawn Reynaldo surveys the week’s best new electronic music offerings and also offers up a premiere from Scottish techno duo Clouds off the first release on their newly launched Maxiboy label.
