Back in 2013, UK artist Forest Swords offered up *Engravings*, a dark-hued and uniquely arresting album that fused ominous ambience and haunting guitar tones with jagged electronics and hip-hop rhythms. Since then, he’s dabbled in various projects, even writing a contemporary dance score, but now he’s put together a new LP, *Compassion*. With the album surfacing this week via Ninja Tune, Forest Swords talks about the record’s genesis, explaining how his own worry about the current state of global affairs ultimately resulted in a batch of emotive songs with an unexpectedly melodic bent. Also joining the program for a chat is Delia Gonzalez, whose new *Horse Follows Darkness* album is the latest in a long string of hypnotic, boundary-pushing efforts for the vaunted DFA label. Elsewhere, host Shawn Reynaldo shares the best of the week’s electronic releases and presents an exclusive premiere from the upcoming Robert Hood album on Dekmantel.
