When it comes to partying, few artists can match the expertise of DJ Harvey. Although he got his start behind the decks during the late ’80s in his native UK, he’s been ensconced in Los Angeles for many years now, spreading his disco and dancefloor gospel through an extensive array of releases, edits and unspeakably wild nights. In recent years, his talents have also been enlisted by the infamous Pikes Hotel in Ibiza, who have hosted a Harvey residency for the past three summers and even named him the venue’s official cultural attaché. Beyond that, he’s also had a hand in launching the new Pikes record label, curating *The Sound of Mercury Rising* compilation that surfaced last week. Here, he discusses his relationship with Pikes, breaks down the new compilation and reflects on the fabled White Isle. Also joining the program is Shigeto, a Michigan native and Ghostly International affiliate who’s spent the past few years carving out a niche in the Detroit music scene.
