Bristol has long been a hotbed for various strains of bass-heavy electronic music, but the past few years have seen an explosion of activity around the city’s young producers and their experiments with low-end heavy technoid sounds. Alongside contemporaries like Batu, Ploy, Hodge and others too numerous to list, Bruce has a penchant for infusing his off-kilter rhythms with a tangible sense of emotional depth. With his debut full-length _Sonder Somatic_ arriving this week via Hessle Audio, he reflects here on the themes that inspired the LP, his place in the UK hardcore continuum and exactly what’s happening in his home city. Elsewhere, host Shawn Reynaldo highlights all of the week’s best new electronic music, and also exclusively premieres a track from the forthcoming EP on Downwards by Veronica Vasicka, the NYC synth aficionado.
