Born and raised in Oakland, Aybee didn’t grow up in a techno or house environment, but his hometown cultivated an openminded approach that’s remained with him today. Now based in Berlin, he’s known for his willingness to explore the outer limits of house and techno while folding in elements of cosmic jazz and other experimental sounds. That being said, the *Nexus EP*, his latest release, is a relatively straightforward affair focused squarely on the dancefloor. With the record dropping this week on the RDV label, Aybee reflects on his reputation as a boundary pusher and the unfortunate inflexibility of today’s electronic music, and he shares his plans for the future. Also joining the program is JASSS, a Berlin-based artist who grew up in northern Spain.
