The whole point of First Floor is that each and every Thursday host Shawn Reynaldo spends two hours highlighting the week’s best new electronic releases — and now that the calendar has officially turned to 2018, we’re ready to get back to business. Unfortunately, the music industry remains in something of a post-holiday slumber, meaning that only a handful of new records are finding their way into the world. Nevertheless, the radio show must go on, so we’ve decided to shine a light on the surprisingly large crop of tunes that were released over the past few weeks. While most of the music world was focused on shopping lists, holiday parties and best of 2017 roundups, a whole lot of new electronic records also dropped. This episode will largely focus on those 2017 stragglers, many of which wouldn’t get their proper due otherwise.
