Description
Mikhaylo Vityk has had many aliases over the years, but is most widely known as Vakula. Born and raised in the Ukrainian small town of Konotop, the producer and DJ has released dozens of records under the names Vedomi, V and Vakula, on labels such as the Scottish Firecracker Recordings, Amsterdam institution Dekmantel, Russian imprint Arma, and his own outlet, Leleka. Inspired by house and techno from the US, he also draws from Ukrainian folk music, prog, classic rock, ambient and other strands of ethnomusicology to create deep, twisted melodics. Apart from producing his own music, Vakula is also mastering recordings for Dekmantel and French label Versatile Records. In this Fireside Chat, Vakula talks about his spiritual connection to forests and nature, traveling to Tibet, the influence of Steve Reich on his work and creating your own music from your imagination.
