Although she only began to DJ in her 20s, Marea Stamper, AKA the Black Madonna, has gone from rural Kentucky (where as a teenager she sold mixtapes out of her car at illegal raves) to the full-time talent booker at Smart Bar, the legendary Chicago house and techno club. One of the most respected new DJs and producers working today, the Black Madonna is a passionate and vocal champion of positive change with a global perspective, and she actively addresses issues concerning women, people of color and the LGBTQ community, both on and off the dancefloor.
