Californian producer, engineer and composer Patrick Gleeson is known for his pioneering work with synthesizers in late-20th-century jazz and rock music, and in major Hollywood soundtracks. Introduced to the Buchla and Moog synthesizers in the ‘60s, while at the San Francisco Tape Music Center, he took these strange new machines out of the studios and onto the road – most notably with jazz musicians like Herbie Hancock, playing on and touring Hancock's _Crossing_ and _Sextant_ albums. The ’70s and ’80s proved fruitful for Gleeson – his ’76 debut album, _Beyond the Sun - An Electronic Portrait of Holst's the Planets_, was nominated for a Grammy, and he engineered albums for artists like Devo in his own recording studio, Different Fur. Gleeson also contributed to scores for film and television, including _Apocalypse Now_.
