Growing up in southwest China with little exposure to global music, Pan Daijing moved to the Bay Area to find her voice in the noise music scene there, before establishing herself in Berlin’s avant-garde techno clubs. With a deliberatively conceptual approach to music production, and taking cues from the world of opera, Daijing’s artistic practice lives within an intimate connection between sound and performance. Her debut LP on PAN, _Lack_, has been met with enthusiasm by critics who praise her original blend of narrative, operatic elements and harsh, dark patterns of noise and ambient. Developing her sound through live performance, dance and fashion design, Daijing’s working method is a multifaceted one, leaving the listener to expect the unexpected.
