Melika Ngombe Kolongo was born in Belgium and identifies as part of the global black diaspora through her Congolese heritage. Now based in London, she’s adopted the name Nkisi and serves as one third of the international triumvirate (alongside Angel Ho and Chino Amob) that pilots NON, a politically minded collective and record label dedicated to music by African artists. Her three solo releases for NON — *WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE*, *Flush/in*, and *KILL* — traffic in high tempos and meld elements of techno, hardcore and electro with African percussive sensibilities to create energetic dancefloor weapons. Beyond her own music and DJing, her work with NON has garnered attention: The crew’s web-savvy approach, international membership and outspoken politics have found an enthusiastic audience, giving a voice to like-minded members of the diaspora.
