Italian artist Linda Di Franco has played many roles since the ’80s. Starting out as a radio DJ in her native Turin, she became involved in the burgeoning Balearic style: a breezy blend of cosmic disco, funk, dub and deep house that became synonymous with ’90s Ibiza, and a direct influence the minimalist “chill out” house scene. As a recording artist, Di Franco’s big moment came in 1985, with the release of her single “T.V. Scene,” a jazzy downtempo pop hit that pushed the Balearic sound into the mainstream; one year later, she released her debut album, *Rise of the Heart*. Riding the wave of this success, she moved to Los Angeles — she soon began working as a sound editor on major Hollywood feature films. For the better part of 30 years, she’s focused on her work as a filmmaker, by producing, writing and directing short films, as well as TV shows and online projects.
