Description
Kelsey Lu is an American cellist and vocalist whose sound exists somewhere between the Earth and the heavens. Growing up in Charlotte, North Carolina, she moved to New York and then LA, where she currently lives. She recorded her debut EP, 2016’s _Church_, as a solo cello exercise inside a Brooklyn church — it is a mournful and introspective work that literally echoes with grandeur. In recent years she’s collaborated with Dev Hynes, and shared stages with Solange, Oneohtrix Point Never, Florence and the Machine and King Krule, among others. In 2019, Kelsey Lu released her album _Blood_, on Columbia. Imbued with a Californian style of folksy romance, her cello and vocal work has become more cosmic and experimental, with a zany pop energy that feels undeniably modern. In her Fireside Chat, she details her life in music so far, from classical influences to touring with contemporary artists and creating her own songs.
