Description
Karizma is a producer and DJ based in Baltimore, whose bumping, house-focused sound is rooted in a hip-hop mindset. He started out playing at house parties and on college radio, and it was his early collaborations with local figurehead DJ Spen, of the Basement Boys production crew, that led him toward dancefloor anthems like Kim English’s “Tomorrow,” Mary J. Blige’s “Beautiful” and Kenny Bobien’s “Let Me Show You” — he's also remixed myriad artists, from Lenny Kravitz to Everything but the Girl. As he built up this multigenre style, Karizma developed a fan base in Europe and has released remixes and original productions for labels like R2, Ricanstruction, Defected and Soul Heaven. His DJing has developed legendary status: He uses his much-loved Pioneer CDJs in playful, studied and often surprising ways, creating new tracks out of multilayered blends and bringing in deep house, broken beat, techno, garage, hip-hop, funk and soul.
