Gregg Kowalsky is an ambient electronic producer from New York City, who has released music on labels such as Kranky, Root Strata and Digitalis Recordings; his electro-acoustic material focuses on multi-channel, site-specific works with elements of psychoacoustic phenomena. He is known for his _Tape Chants_ series, which explores performance spaces and acoustics by using cassette players to amplify tape loops tuned to sine waves. After completing an MFA in Electronic Music and Recording Media at Mills College, under the tutelage of Fred Frith, Maggie Payne and Pauline Oliveros, Kowalsky moved to Los Angeles, California, where he currently lives. In 2017, he released his seventh album, and his first for the Mexican Summer label, _L’Orange, L’Orange_, after an eight-year break between albums.
