New Zealander Fis is an electronic producer whose musical practice is rooted in the physical experience of sound. He’s experimented with meditative, drum & bass-influenced frequencies as story-telling mechanisms, for EPs on labels such as Samurai Horo, Exit and Tri Angle, and albums for Loopy and Subtext. In 2017, he collaborated with fellow New Zealander Rob Thorne on the album _Clear Stones_, which blends live improvisational recordings of Thorne playing traditional Maori instruments with Fis’s tense soundscapes. Most recently, Fis has started his own label, Saplings, which uses music sales to fund the planting of trees (alongside the Eden Project) – it's a label concept that Fis hopes will be “a conduit for musical energy to return to the planet.”
