To paraphrase one of DJ Koze’s mixes: All people is his friends. And indeed, it’s hard not to feel great affection for a guy who sometimes shows up as Adolf Noise or Monaco Schranze, and shows a sense of humor in a field where seriousness is often worn like a badge. Based in Hamburg, DJ Koze went through different phases and places in his career: From German hip-hop act Fischmob to the ironic and witty art pop of International Pony, as well as his impressive solo techno adventures for Cologne’s mighty Kompakt company, Koze can be everything unexpected, never boring. The same holds true for his work behind the turntables. Going through the motions is not DJ Koze’s trade, as he is known for risky undertakings, musical grandeur and total awesomeness (as his American friends would say). His bag of tricks also allows him to be one of the most daring and interesting remixers around, with interpretations for Caribou, Gonzales, Matthew Dear and countless others.
