Following in the wake of mentors like Andrew Weatherall and Erol Alkan, Daniel Avery has made a name for himself among clubbers and music lovers with risk-taking marathon sets and a deep-and-dark style of techno. As a DJ, the Fabric resident plays acid-soaked house and analog machine funk with a keen ear for psychedelic twists and mind-bending grooves, as his musical upbringing amongst post-punk and leftfield disco would suggest. Avery reflects on the five years between his debut and sophomore releases, considers his long-term influences and observes the dancefloor from a new perspective.
