Description
Christophe Chassol, the son of a West Indian saxophonist and a bus driver, is one of contemporary R&B’s most exciting new artists. A piano player and songwriter, the Frenchman has composed music for films in his “ultrascore” method, articulating voice, music, sounds and images into new audiovisual objects, as a way of “harmonizing reality.” He’s released three solo albums, his most recent being 2015’s *Big Sun*, and two compilation albums, *Ultrascore* and *Ultrascore II*, all on the Tricatel label — Chassol’s records explore jazz, classical, pop and rock, all through the prism of experimental R&B. In 2016, he gained acclaim for his work with Frank Ocean, playing piano on the track “U-N-I-T-Y” for Ocean’s 2016 album *Endless*. As a remixer and producer, Chassol has worked closely with French acts like the upbeat indie band Phoenix and electronic pop dreamer Sébastien Tellier.
