It’s been 30 years since a teenaged Carl Craig boarded a plane bound for London, with first-gen Detroit DJs Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson. It was a fateful trip that would connect their Motor City sound with the burgeoning rave scene of England and Europe. The trip was also a catalyst in the solo career of Craig, who became a leading light of Detroit techno’s "second wave" of producers. Craig is known for having forged many of the branches and offshoots that emanate from Detroit techno's core, and his accomplishments include Grammy-nominated remixes, trailblazing original productions under a clutch of alias names and a bulging touring schedule as one of the world’s most renowned DJs.
