Description
A celebrated recording engineer, mix engineer and producer, Andrew Scheps has had a hand in creating records from an all-star cast of artists, including Johnny Cash, Black Sabbath, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Metallica, Weezer, the Mars Volta and others too numerous to name. Though he’s now based in Los Angeles, Scheps is a native of Long Island, NY, who got his start playing jazz trumpet. After graduating from the University of Miami’s music engineering program, he spent time as a technician for New England Digital, the creator of the Synclavier (one of the first digital audio workstations/synthesizers/samplers), before heading out on the road with Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. After landing on the West Coast, he found his services increasingly in demand, most frequently as a mix engineer. Along the way he connected with Rick Rubin, and was tapped to engineer many of the legendary producer’s projects.
