As teenagers, Alexis Taylor and his friend Joe Goddard formed Hot Chip, a sparkling and strange five-piece band that brought together myriad influences – Detroit techno and Chicago house, British synth pop and US R&B – with playful and tender lyricism and scrappy DIY electronics.
