Vintage Voudou is housed inside the same central Amsterdam complex as Red Light Records and Red Light Radio, two globally known institutions for serious music lovers. But the pint-sized shop pulls quite a bit of weight on its own, thanks to its expertise in vintage global sounds, specifically music from the Caribbean, Africa, India and other zones that owner Edo Bouman has visited in search of next-level records. Bouman discusses the path he took from spearheading the popular Bombay Connection label to putting adventurous sounds in the hands of collectors both famous and obscure, by way of his storefront in a former brothel.
