Description
Though relatively young, having opened on Record Store Day 2015, Superior Elevation Records in Brooklyn has quickly secured a reputation as a go-to spot for both bargain shopping wax-a-holiks and more discerning collectors alike. The crates stay constantly replenished within these raw industrial Bushwick confines (located, ironically enough, on the basement level). As shop founder Tom Noble learned upon landing in the County of Kings after stints in the Midwest and out West (where he was amongst the earliest residents at Dâm-Funk’s LA boogie weekly Funkmosphere), Gotham remains an ever-fertile center for second-hand wax. Thus SE stocks some of everything for the curious ear – disco, house, hip-hop, rock, soul, jazz, gospel, Caribbean, reggae, Latin/Brazilian etc. – while the small but well-kept new releases section favors labels like PPU, Let’s Play House, Razor & Tape, Invisible City and Mood Hut.
