Established in 2014, Love Vinyl is the joint venture of a crew of friends who’ve devoted years to London's dance music scene as DJs/promoters/punters and vinyl buyers/sellers. Zaf Chowdhry’s history as a collector specifically dates back to the late ’80s, when as a staffer at Soho’s popular Reckless Records he took the first of many record buying trips to the States. Sorting through the bins stateside provided an instant and invaluable musical education in soul, funk, disco and rare groove; subsequent visits would yield a nest egg of thousands of records that became stock for his private wax dealings over the years, a foundation that he remarkably still funnels into the used bins at Love Vinyl’s East End storefront. Though technically LV’s used-record buyer, Chowdhry's own releases regularly infiltrate the store’s new-wax section via his compilations for BBE and shop-exclusive disco edits with Phil Asher.
