When Detroit’s Sinistarr listened to the radio at night as a teenager, he’d hear the sounds of Godfather, Gary Chandler and DJ Zap playing hip-hop and ghettotech on Saturdays, and then in-house club mixes from a variety of local DJs, playing Miami bass and R&B. This seasoned eclecticism worked its way into his bones and helped him grow into the DJ and producer that he is today - taking drum and bass as a solid foundation that he's built his production and mixing styles on. His music has been released on legacy labels of the genre – Metalheadz, Creative Source and Hospital Records, to name a few – but aptly also labels that use drum and bass as thematic starting point from which to reach out from, like UK dubstep imprint Tectonic and Doc Scott’s forward-thinking 31 Records.
