Choice Mix focuses this week on some of the pivotal sounds of the French capital. As part of the Soulchildren group, Odaiba, AKA Nicko Soulchildren, is an artist who has been pivotal to shaping the local scene. Hailing from the northwestern suburbs of Paris, he has produced for some of the greatest artists in the alternative French rap scene and is one of the founders of the Bombattak label. In this episode, Nicko Soulchildren pays tribute to another great artist from Hauts-de-Seine, DJ Mehdi, whose hip-hop/electro crossover shaped the sound of seminal French label Ed Banger Records — DJ Mehdi tragically passed away in 2011.
