Andrés, AKA DJ Dez, developed his unparalleled digging skills at Detroit’s legendary shop Buy-Rite Records, and in the decades since has had a hand in many of the city’s most important musical moments. Between his time DJing for legendary hip-hop outfit Slum Village, the house records he released on Moodymann’s KDJ label and the fact that he cooked up “New for U” – one of the biggest house records of the past decade – there’s really no denying that Andrés is one of Detroit’s most irreplaceable musical minds. Once a month he brings his encyclopedic knowledge (along with a clutch of vinyl gems hand-picked from his expansive collection) into the Red Bull Radio booth and puts on a clinic.
