Starting out as a DJ in Gothenburg’s early ’90s hip-hop scene, Nibc became well known in the Swedish rave scene for Claustrophobic Dimension, a network of underground artists and musicians working within dance culture and its aesthetics. Gravitating toward a more house-centric sound in the ‘00s, he started to gain a serious following — he shows up in music-magazine polls as a favorite across Scandinavia, and has enjoyed the success of his record label, Trunkfunk Records. Showcasing Scandinavian and international talent – from Swedish artists like Hans Berg and his own Stuffa project (with Jonas Rathsma) to Detroit booty master DJ Assault – Trunkfunk counts figures like Annie Mac and Moodymann as fans. Most recently, Nibc released solo music on legendary British dance label Ministry of Sound, including the _Hold On_ EP, which focuses on a crowd-pumping funky house sound with a techno underbelly. His track "Kumi" will be out on Trunkfunk in the spring.
