Description
Since coming to the 2005 Academy in Seattle as a participant, Turkish musician Ahu has written and sung for artists like fellow alumni Flying Lotus and Mr Beatnick, and Roberta Flack and Miles Bonny, among others. She’s worked on solo material with a variety of producers, from offbeat hip-hop artists like Paul White, Dimlite and Turkish artist Da Poet, and her tracks can be heard in films, too - in a short film about women's rights for Prada/Miu Miu, directed by the Oscar-winning African American director Ave Duvernay, and in 2014’s _Samba de Sol_, with a track sung in Portuguese. As a DJ, Ahu has performed at clubs like London’s Plastic People and Los Angeles’s Brainfeeder, and at events such as Southern Soul festival, Jazzystan, East Village, Trinity and Gilles Peterson’s World Wide Awards.
