Suce, AKA Sucio Smash, has been a steady presence on NYC’s underground hip-hop scene since inheriting the time slot of WKCR’s world-renowned "Stretch and Bobbito" program from his broadcasting mentor, Bobbito Garcia. His and partner Timm See’s “Squeeze Radio” show carried the torch for the marriage of bugged-out humor and indie sounds over the airwaves for seven years; meanwhile, Suce’s High Water Music label served as its own bastion for new rap music, dropping acclaimed releases from the likes of DJ Spinna, Homeboy Sandman, Willie Evans Jr. and others. All the while, Suce has stayed busy behind the decks developing skills he’s lately dedicated to the monthly soiree, A Party Called Rosie Perez. Co-helmed by fellow residents DJ Laylo and Christian Martir, APCRP celebrates the soul and heritage of Puerto Rico as its primary point of inspiration, musically describing itself as the sound of a Hector Lavoe track produced by DJ Premier.
