Across 135th Street – Disco Melodies with DJ Love on the Run

NYC DJ and Queens native Love On the Run is a steadfast presence on the international disco/boogie wax obsessives circuit. With roots in the city’s dance music scene going back to the ’90s, he’s been putting his compulsions for soulful vintage vinyl to strong use for years via his underground Secret Rendezvous and Foreal People soirees. But it’s his regular cross-continental gigs with friend Sam “Floating Points” Shepherd as part of Flo Po’s free-flowing You’re a Melody party series that have yielded an offshoot project that’s sweet music to fellow wax devotees’ ears: Melodies Records – LOTR and FP’s reissue label devoted to unearthing the finest in long lost soulful dance music. If the prized re-releases themselves weren’t enough each Melodies release is accompanied by an edition of the Melodies’ *Melozine*, a DIY fanzine featuring contributions from Sadar Bahar, Hunee, Javybz, Jeremy Underground, Red Greg and other likeminded music heads.
