While Detroit may boast an unsurpassed canon of classic soul, equally deep is the Motor City’s canon of lost soul, funk and disco classics. Largely released on small indie labels by artists with big dreams of filling the void when Motown moved west, these recordings went underappreciated upon original release. Decades later, they've been championed by record hounds and discerning DJs – one such vintage Detroit wax enthusiast being our host Chairman Jefferson Mao.
