As turntablism pedigrees go, Boogie Blind’s is as official as it gets. Harlem’s finest came up as a protégé of the late, legendary Roc Raida, becoming one of the youngest members of the revered X-Ecutioners crew (earning the nickname “The X-Factor”) and claiming the crown at 2001’s Vestax world championships. His skills are far from limited to being nice with the slice, however — he's long excelled at rocking parties and clubs while traversing the globe both on his own and as Pharoahe Monch’s tour DJ. His predilection for digging for vinyl gems is on full display on the latest episode of Across 135th Street. Joining host Chairman Mao, Boogie applies his magic touch to an all-45s set of lost breaks and beats, doubling up in the classic uptown park-jam tradition as only this king of the cut can.
