Description
Happy international jazz day (April 30th). Aired lived on Ness Radio as part of our annual celebration. Our challenge this year was to do a mix focusing on music from our country of origin and so here is my selection of Hong Kong jazz and jazz inspired music. Some our oldies (from Shanghai) that filtered on the airwaves when I grew up in Hong Kong, some classic jazz from folks on the scene back in the day, a bit of acid jazz from bands like Mothership, some contemporary jazz, jazz-funk, jazzy hip hop, and jazz influenced music from Matt Force to Blood, Wine or Honey. Plus a good amount of Cantopop stars bringing some jazz into their song book, almost city pop style. Managed to fit in some Roman Tam and Leslie Cheung. Iconic Hong Kong names. Track list in the comments. Hope you enjoy. This was fun to put together.
