Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Xoli Ngcoza (or Xoliswa as she calls herself) has had a love affair with electronic music since the 1990's. Playing the DJ with cassette tapes at her mother's get togethers and working at a hip-hop club when she was a teenager, her world changed when she heard house music for the first time. 2004 marked the date of her journey to the U.S and by 2007 she was working as an online promoter for Open Bar Music, who hosted House DJ monthly parties. So she began taking turntable lessons from fellow artists she admired.
