Description
The inauguration of the university's steel pan group and the death of Egyptian great Shadia produce the juxtaposition. The show begins with about a half hour of music from Egyptian film greats, including of course Shadia, and continues with a few short Christmas songs. But the main feature is an interesting and informative interview with Dr. Aaron Ziegler about all things steel pan, including history, and a healthy sampling of steel pan music during and after the interview.
The University of Toledo Rocket Steel Band's inaugural concert is Sat. Dec. 9 at 6:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.
