Feb. 21, 2025 is the 80th birthday of Sam Mangwana, one of the great vocalists of Afropop music. Born to Angolan parents and always loyal to that heritage, born in Kinshasha, Congo and best known for his Congolese recordings, but adventurous enough to travel to other countries to make hits and earn the nickname le pigeon voyageur, and singing in seven languages, he has recorded as recently as 2022 and now lives in Angola.
