OEP 3/23/14: Simon Scott guest mix

My head is still spinning at rejoining s l o w d i v e after 20 years and I am buzzing with excitement at the prospect of playing live again. So the mix I put together for Optic Echo Presents is a collection of my favourite tracks that have a faint musical whiff of shoegaze. I certainly wouldn't call any of theses shoegaze tracks, I am sure Bon Iver, Talk Talk and Daniel johnson have never been put into that genre, but to be honest I hate musical styles being lumped into easy to chew categories and they work in the mix well (so who cares!!!). I know the songs are the most important element in any mix and here I adore all of them and enjoyed compiling and listening back to the ebb and flow of them. I purposely used a 45rpm version of the Seefeel track, as I just love the vibe I get from that track on vinyl sped up (no offence intended to Seefeel purists), and edited a one or two pieces including the TU M track, but without taking the essence away from the track.
