Description
How to start a story about a pianist who, at his young age, lived about nine lives? Barney McAll was born and raised in Australia, lived in New York for a long time, he was attached to the Cuban landscapes of the Santeria cult, he studied and taught everything. Observing all the rules of cinematic suspense, I watch his stories from the side, clicking the shutter of the camera. Here Barney eats favorite tacos at the Houston airport, here he listens to the story of barman Micky from Village Vanguard about Thelonious Monk gig, here he reads a new novel of Naomi Klein, and here he plays with his sons in some kind of (frame blurred) game.
I've recorded this interview for one of the best ukrainian magazine Business Zavarnik. I usually do write interviews with best musicians all around the world for my Night Light column in BZ. It will be printed in Russian language in a couple of weeks. So here is the English (not printed, but aired) version. Enjoy listening, sharing and commenting ;-)
