Description
Inspired by Bryn Jones (17 June 1961 - 14 January 1999), a British ethnic electronica and experimental musician who was influenced by conflicts and history in the Muslim world, often with an emphasis on the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. With dozens of albums released under the Muslimgauze name, Jones was prolific. In the quarter century since his death, dozens more releases have emerged; Discogs currently lists 157 albums, 39 Singles and EPs, 19 compilations, and 5 miscellaneous items.
His music is fundamentally rhythmic, featuring drum machines, live percussion, and ethnic instruments, often processed with distortions and filters to create a powerful, driving pulse. A signature element is the incorporation of Arabic scales, rhythms, and vocal samples, often inspired by the region's culture and political landscape. Beyond the beats, there's a focus on atmospheric sounds, drones, and loop-based structures that create a mesmerizing, psychedelic, and often cinematic feel.
