Description
Rounder takes Hour One to tell the story of the legendary label Gaity Records out of Minneapolis, MN, a case study in the original underground rock and roll scene that spread across the US in the wake of Bill Haley and Elvis. Gaity produced some of the rawest material of the original rock and roll era, a clear documentation of early rocking bands out of the Twin Cities. Today's show features some top tier doo-wop singles, all recruited and recorded by a local teen, David Hersk. Hour Two includes a mix of vinyl from Rounder's collection, including Little Richard, the Gories, the Exploding Hearts, Ernie K-Doe, Clarence "Frogmouth" Henry, and Rounder's valiant fight against a poltergeist-riddled turntable.
