45 HORSEPOWER 02/13/23: Stax/Volt Records (Part Two, 1966-1967)

Co-hosts DJ Rounder and the Big Boogie Chicken dig into the years 1966 and 1967 for Stax Records out of Memphis, TN. These were years that produced the early peaks of Stax Records in its original down-home incarnation, that of a coalition of impeccable musicians working long hours at a soul factory, and changing the musical world at large with their regional sound, competing against and sometimes beating Motown on the charts. As always with Stax, however things would quickly change.
